US Vanguard Ventures has recruited Thomas McConnell as a general partner. McConnell will focus on early-stage investments in the life sciences and information technology sectors.
'Tom has built an excellent reputation in the venture capital community, both for his solid track record of investment success, as well as the hard work and personal commitment he's demonstrated on the boards and organisations he's served,' said Bob Ulrich, general partner at Vanguard.
'Vanguard has been investing in the life science and information technology markets for more than 20 years, and can clearly see how the convergence taking place today between medicine and technology will lead to some remarkable breakthroughs in the coming years. With Tom's knowledge and experience, he'll play a key role in helping us identify and grow pioneering companies that will potentially define new markets and change industries.'
McConnell joins Vanguard from New Enterprise Associates where he was a general partner responsible for investments in the medical devices, biopharmaceutical, communications equipment, networking, semiconductors, and software sectors.
