 US-based mid-market private equity firm Vestar Capital is to strengthen its European operations with the recruitment of Mario Cesari. Cesari joins the firm from Berkshire Partners where he served as an executive director. He was previously a management consultant with McKinsey & Co in France and Switzerland.
'I have been impressed with Vestar's unique approach to entering the European private equity market, building local teams in key continental markets,' Cesari said.
Vestar was founded in 1998 and has completed 45 investments with a total valuation in the region of $15bn. The firm currently manages in the region of $4bn and has additional offices in Denver, Colorado and Milan. It opened its first European office in 2000 but did not make an investment in the region until 2002.
