Global Life Science Ventures hires Dr. Bert van Toor as investment manager

Global Life Science Ventures has hired Dr. Bert van Toor as an investment manager based in Switzerland. This appointment continues the planned expansion of the company's investment team in Europe to accommodate the firm's increased geographic presence in Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

'We are extremely pleased to welcome Dr. van Toor as the latest member of the team,' said Peter Reinisch, partner of Global Life Science Ventures. 'Bert has over ten years of experience in senior level positions in the drug discovery and development industry. His background in a range of therapeutic areas includes global responsibilities in pharmaceutical development at leading big pharma companies. His medical expertise as well as his strong industry background will be extremely useful to Global Life Science Ventures as we pursue the development of our investment portfolio.'

Dr.van Toor joins the firm from Bayer where he was responsible for global project management, clinical development and where he served as medical director of the Benelux region. He previously worked at Boehringer Ingelheim where he was involved in clinical pharmacology and global clinical research.

Global Life Science Ventures advises and manages funds in excess of E200m. The firm has financed 29 biotechnology companies to date, five of which have completed a successful exit through IPO or trade sale.
