Australian GS Private equity closes third fund at A$450m

Australian GS Private Equity has announced the first and final closing of GS Private Equity Fund 3 with A$450m of commitments. The fund was significantly oversubscribed with accepted subscriptions totalling in excess of A$550m.

'The success of the fundraising reflects the strong returns that the private equity asset class has provided to investors over the last year, but more relevantly reflects the strength of our own track record over that period,' said Peter Miggs, a partner at GS Private Equity. 'We have cemented our position as a leading private equity firm in the mid-market buy-out segment.'

The fund has adopted the new Venture Capital Limited Partnership vehicle, which has been created to facilitate the flow of foreign capital into Australian private equity funds, and this has attracted several large overseas fund of funds managers.
