 US Sofinnova Ventures has recruited Alain Couder as an IT venture advisor. Couder will be responsible for investments in the software and computer systems sectors and will assume board seats at Sofinnova portfolio companies Corrente, Atomz and Vitra Bioscience.
Couder was most recently chief executive of Confluent Software, a web services management company acquired by Oblix in February. He was also CEO of IP Dynamics and chief operations officer of Agilent Technologies.
Couder will invest out of Sofinnova Venture Partners VI. This fund was closed in December 2003 with $220m of commitments.
