Apax Partners has acquired the Regent Infection Control business of SSL International for £173m. A number of other private equity firms expressed an interest in purchasing the company including ABN Amro, 3i, Hg Capital and Bain Capital.
'We look forward to working with the excellent management teams and workforce to expand the Regent business further over the coming years,' said Ian Jones, director of Apax. 'This is consistent with Apax Partners' strategy of building leading businesses within our chosen sectors.'
SSL International was formed through the merger of London International Group and Seton Scholl in 1999. Following the sale, SSL plans to focus on its consumer business, which accounts for approximately 55 per cent of the group's operations.
