UK Hutton Collins has closed its debut mezzanine fund with E235m of commitments. Investors in the fund include Adams Street Partners, Pantheon Ventures, Northwestern Mutual, Credit Suisse First Boston, Bank of Scotland, Morgan Stanley and Martin Currie.
Capital Z Investment Partners is also invested in the fund. The group bought out Abbey National, Hutton Collins' original cornerstone investor, in February this year.
Hutton Collins originally planned to raise E600m when the fund was launched in 2002. But the firm lowered the target substantially last year, citing adverse market conditions.
Hutton Collins invests in a mix of junior mezzanine and senior equity instruments, either in private equity backed deals or sponsorless transactions. The firm has deployed E90m to date.
