Global private equity firm Warburg Pincus has announced two European acquisitions just days after it emerged the firm had closed its German office. The group has bought the Norwegian imaging business ElectroMagnetic GeoServices (EMGS) and Swedish translation services company SDI Media Group.
EMGS, founded in 2002, was acquired from Norwegian state-owned oil company Statoil for an undisclosed sum. SDI was bought for E49m from publicly traded Modern Times Group.
Warburg Pincus is headquartered in the US and operates across the globe. Although it has had a presence in Europe since the late 1980s it has not been a major player in the buy-out market. Most of its activity has been in technology sectors or other specialist areas.
