Meritage Private Equity Funds, the US communications-orientated private equity firm, has recruited Doug Holladay as an investment director. Holladay was formerly the founder of Digital Television Services, president of Sterling Cellular and one of the original members of The Weather Channel management team.
Immediately prior to joining Meritage, Holladay was a venture partner at Columbia Capital, a venture capital firm with $1.4bn under management investing in early-stage communications and technology companies.
'We are often asked what distinguishes Meritage from other private equity firms,' said Laura Beller, Meritage founder and managing director. 'The simple answer is our investment directors. Each has served as a chief executive or senior-level manager of a successful communications business, and has demonstrated the ability to create value in high-growth enterprises.'
Meritage Private Equity Funds was founded in 1998 and currently has more than $475m of committed capital under management. The firm invests in early to late-stage communications businesses including networks, internet infrastructure, software, media and outsourced communications services.
