General Atlantic's Erik Engstrom returns to publishing

Erik Engstrom, head of the media and consumer investment sector at US General Atlantic, is leaving the private equity firm to serve as chief executive of Reed Elsevier's scientific and media publishing business.

'I am delighted to welcome Erik,' said Sir Crispin Davis, Reed Elsevier's chief executive. 'He is an exceptionally talented executive with a consistent track record of success, wide international experience and extensive publishing expertise. He will bring strong leadership to the Elsevier business.'

Prior to joining General Atlantic, Engstrom served as chief operating officer of Random House.
