US venture capital firm SOFTBANK Capital has recruited Craig Cooper as a partner. Cooper will be responsible for investments in broadband companies with a focus on the wireless sector.
'Craig's experience in technology ventures and wireless investments makes him a key asset for us,' said Eric Hippeau, managing partner of SOFTBANK Capital. 'He is excited by the potential and vision for emerging technologies and believes that broadband has great prospects for the future. Craig understands our business and we are confident that he will be an important addition to the team.'
Prior to joining SOFTBANK Capital, Cooper co-founded Boost Mobile USA, a joint venture with Nextel Communications. He was previously a principal at Mercury Capital where he advised on wireless and multimedia technology ventures.
'I am extremely pleased to join SOFTBANK Capital and look forward to working with its senior managers who have both a global investment perspective as well as a deep knowledge of this emerging industry,' Cooper said. 'We are operating at a crucial time for broadband's development and deployment within the US market and will work aggressively to seize each opportunity as it presents itself and continue SOFTBANK Capital's record of success.'
