Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst is to separate its European division, according to a report by the Financial Times. The move has been prompted by pressure from investors who are currently being asked to contribute towards a E1bn dedicated European fund.
The announcement also reflects generational changes within the firm and the desire to isolate the more successful European division. High profile European deals over recent months include Yell, the yellow pages directory business that went public last year and the Mumm and Perrier-Jouet Champagne brands.
The European division may change its name in the future but will continue to operate under the Hicks, Muse brand name in the short-term.
