A private equity consortium led by ABN Amro Capital, Citigroup Investments and Communication Venture Partners has led the E1.2bn takeover of Bulgarian mobile telephones operator MobilTel Holding.
The consortium, which also included Innova Capital, Sandler Capital Management, Global Finance and 3TS Venture Partners, invested E450m for a 40 per cent stake in the company.
Three of MobilTel's existing shareholders, Martin Schlaff, Josef Taus and Herbert Cordt, also invested in the buy-out, reducing their combined stake from 70 per cent to 60 per cent.
The transaction represents the largest ever leveraged buy-out to take place in Central and Eastern Europe.
