South Korean Hana Bank has announced that it is to join forces with US Cambridge Capital Partners and IMM Venture Capital of South Korea to launch a $100m private equity fund.
The fund will invest in small local firms and aims to hold a final close later this year, according to a report by Reuters. Small and Medium Business Administration, a South Korean government agency, has agreed to commit $20m to the fund.
Hana Bank is one of a number of domestic institutions aiming to reduce the influence of foreign players in local asset deals as the South Korean government considers regulatory reform to remove restrictions on domestic buy-out funds.
