Canadian Ventures West has announced the appointment of Dr. Maha Katabi as vice president. Katabi will be responsible for deal generation and portfolio management in the biotech sector, particularly for early-stage companies in Ontario and Quebec. She will split her time between Ventures West Toronto office and the newly established office in Montreal.
'We are particularly fortunate to have Dr. Katabi joining our team,' said Nancy Harrison, senior vice president of Ventures West. 'She is well know to the biotech and venture capital industries in Quebec and is uniquely qualified to attract and evaluate quality biotech investment opportunities.'
'Her appointment, and the establishment of an office in Montreal, highlights our continued commitment to finding, funding and developing world class biotech companies across Canada,' Harrison continued.
Ventures West manages over $600m in capital commitments and has invested in 125 companies since its inception in 1968. The firm focuses on venture investments in the biotechnology, communications, energy technology and information technology sectors.
