US Fenway Partners has acquired Bell Sports, a manufacturer of cycling and skiing helmets, for $240m. The deal comes a year after Fenway bought Riddell Sports, another US helmet maker that provides 85 per cent of helmets used in the National Football League.
Fenway plans to combine the two companies to create the world's largest maker of sports helmets, according to the Financial Times.
Fenway Capital is a middle-market private equity firm, based in New York, with $1.4bn of funds under management. The firm's portfolio of investments includes jeweller Harry Winston and bedding company Simmons.
