Private equity firm Blackstone and Terra Firma have both been short-listed in the sale of UK cinema chain Odeon. The transaction is expected to raise over £380m.
Two other bidders, VUE Entertainment and BC Partners, have pulled out of the race, according to a report in the Times.
Cinema chains have become increasingly attractive to private equity firms in recent months due to the sector's prime real estate assets and steady cash flows. The Odeon chain, for example, includes freeholds in sought-after central London areas such as Leicester square and Kensington.
Other cinema chains to have attracted private equity interest over the last 12 months include UGC, Warner Village and UCI.
