Gemini Israel funds, a venture capital firm providing start-up financing, has closed its fourth fund with $200m. The fund will focus on seed investments in information technology, with a particular emphasis on the semiconductor, enterprise software, wireless technologies and communications sectors.
Investors in the fund include Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Invesco, CalPERS, Grove Street Advisors, Morgan Stanley, Wilshire Associates, Spur Capital, Offit Hall Capital Management and Horsley Bridge, according to a report by VentureWire.
Gemini Israel III closed with $200m in October 2000 and is almost full invested. Fund II closed on $110m in 1997. Fund I closed on $27m in 1993 and was the first drop-down fund of the Israeli government's Yozma programme, which offered incentives to local groups to establish venture capital funds with international investors.
