Private equity firms Cypress Group and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners have agreed to buy the car parts division of Cooper Tire & Rubber for $1.17bn.
Cooper-Standard Automotive makes fluid handling and body sealing systems and vibration control equipment for car manufacturers. The division generated net sales of $1.6bn in 2003.
The acquisition represents Cypress Group's second auto-parts deal this year. The firm bought Dana Corp. for $1.1bn in July.
