Edmond de Rothschild Capital Partners, the French mid-market buy-out firm, has held a final close on its debut fund with commitments of E210m, slightly ahead of its original E200m target.
The fund is managed by Erick Fouque and Eric de Montgolfier and will focus on lower middle-market opportunities, investing between E10m and E40m in controlling stakes.
A third of the value of commitments came from non-French investors. They included Danske Private Equity, Adveq, Kredietbank Luxembourg and Mederic. The Edmond de Rothschild Group contributed a cornerstone investment of E30m at the first close.
Competition in the French mid-market space has intensified dramatically over the past three years, which has made fundraising more challenging for a lot of groups. Edmond de Rothschild Capital Partners, for example, took 15 months to get from first close to this final close.
The fund has already made two investments. The first is in Bonpoint, the French luxury childrenswear brand, and the second is in Via Location, the number two firm I the French truck rental sector.
