Ignition Partners, the US venture firm based in Washington State, has closed its third fund with $300m of commitments. The fundraising was significantly oversubscribed and attracted interest from both US and international institutions.
Ignition was founded in 2000 by a team of former senior McCaw and Microsoft executives with the ambition of financing outstanding technology-focused entrepreneurs.
Its focus has been on early-stage businesses in the areas of enterprise and consumer facing software and services and communications and computing infrastructure services and technologies.
The fund's success if further evidence of the enormous increase in the institutional appetite for US venture over the past 12 months. Fundraising in the year to date is on course to double the amounts raised last year.
