US buy-out firm Apollo Management has agreed to buy privately-held Houston-based air conditioning manufacturer Goodman Global Holdings for $1.43bn. The deal contributes to mounting evidence that large deal activity in North America is gathering pace.
The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of next year.
Apollo does not plan to replace Goodman's management team, according to the Financial Times.
Apollo specialises in large-scale industrial investments. Earlier this year, for example, it bought Borden Chemical, which specialises in the manufacture of formaldehyde and industrial glues.
Other large buy-out deals in the US in recent weeks have included Bain Capital's acquisition of Canadian retailer Dollarama and Warburg Pincus and Providence's acquisition of Telecordia.
