American Securities Partners IV closes with $1bn of commitments

American Securities Partners IV closed with commitments of $1bn, well ahead of its original target size of $750m.

As in prior ASCP funds, affiliates of ASCP were the largest investors, including the William Rosenwald family. Wealthy families, individuals and related entities make up approximately half of all commitments to the fund.

ASCP's first fund with outside investors closed in December 1994 and invested approximately $120m; its second fund totalled $350m and closed in June 1998. The third fund closed in July 2001 with $650m of commitments.

New-York-based ASCP, founded as the merchant banking and private equity arm of American Securities, is a private investment partnership that invests in middle-market companies primarily located in the United States and Canada.
