Jo Taylor has been named as the successor to retiring Rod Perry as the head of venture capital at listed European private equity firm 3i. Taylor, who has been running the firm's UK venture arm will formally the position takeover next summer.
Philip Yea, the chief executive, said, 'Rod has made a significant contribution to 3i since he joined us in 1985. He has guided our venture capital business through the post-bubble period and positioned us well for the future.'
3i was badly hit by the implosion of the technology bubble in 2000, having built up its exposure to the venture sector aggressively during the preceding period. The last few years have seen a period of significant stabilisation and a greater concentration on buy-out investing.
Taylor has been running the UK venture team since 1999 and is currently the chairman of the British Venture Capital Association's High Technology Committee.
Yea commented on his appointment saying, 'Jo is one of our most talented venture investors and has successfully led the team in the UK over the last five years. He has also contributed to the development of 3i's venture capital business as a whole, which today has the opportunity to become one of the few truly international players in the sector.'
