Investment management firm Cipio Partners has acquired the corporate venture capital portfolio of Infineon Technologies, comprising approximately 30 direct investments and several fund investments. Cipio Partners has led the transaction jointly with European private equity manager LGT Capital Partners.
The Infineon Ventures portfolio includes a range of investments in the areas of semiconductor, micro-electronics and communications technology. Among these are BridgeCo, a vendor of rich media networking ICs and software and MontaVista Software, a vendor of 'embedded Linux' solutions. Infineon Ventures also holds stakes in leading venture capital funds, which form part of the transaction.
Cipio managing partner Tom S Anthofer said, 'Through Infineon Ventures, we have acquired a portfolio of leading-edge technology companies with enormous potential. To further support and foster these firms' development in order to realise their full potential is in everybody's interest.'
Cipio, with offices in Munich and London, acquired the private equity arms of German Deutsche Telekom and DaimlerChrysler in September and November 2004.
