3i appoints Stephan Krümmer to lead German business as managing director

3i Group has appointed Stephan Krümmer as managing director of its German business. He will also be responsible Switzerland and Austria. Based in Frankfurt, Krümmer will succeed Jane Crawford who will return to 3i in London after a period of handover.

Krümmer started his career as a consultant at Bain & Company before he moved on to Bertelsmann and then to Rothschild.

Chris Rowlands, 3i's head of Group Markets, said, '3i's German business has strong momentum and had an excellent year in 2004. Stephan brings a wide range of experience and a great network across the German Mittelstand and corporate world. This combined with his business building skills will significantly enhance the strong market position that Jane has built.'

3i focuses on buy-outs, growth capital and venture capital and invests across Europe, in the United States and in Asia Pacific.
