Ralf Schnell, the former managing director of Infineon Ventures, has been named as the new president and CEO of Siemens Venture Capital, the venture capital arm of German engineering colossus Siemens.
Schnell built up Infineon Technologies' corporate venture capital activities since 1998. Prior to that, he worked with Siemens for 11 years. In his last position he was responsible for a corporate venture nurturing programme and coordinated a Siemens-wide innovation initiative.
With €600m under management, SVC's goal is to fund investments in emerging and innovative technologies that will enhance the core business scope of Siemens, particularly in information and communications, automation and control, medical solutions, automotive technology and transportation systems, power and lighting.
SVC has offices in Germany and in the United States and is also active in Israel.
