Middle-market US private equity firm Centre Partners has acquired Boston-based Uno Restaurant Holdings Corporation, an operator and franchisor of full-service, casual dining restaurants with revenues of nearly $500m.
David Blatte, managing director at Centre Partners, said, 'We look forward to working with Frank Guidara, who recently joined the company as CEO, Aaron Spencer and the Uno management team to nurture and enhance a great company with a strong brand and rich heritage.'
Centre Partners, founded in 1986, has offices in New York City and Los Angeles. The firm focuses on investments in middle-market companies alongside management teams. It is one of a handful of mid-market funds, alongside the UK firm Englefield and the Benelux group Egeria, that has received a very large investment from Swiss-based Bregal Investments. Bregal committed more than $500m to the group in 2003.
Centre Partners and its affiliates have invested over $3bn of equity capital in more than 80 businesses, focusing on consumer businesses. The firm has already invested in such restaurants as Garden Fresh Restaurant Group, which operates under the Sweet Tomatoes and Souplantation brands, The Johnny Rockets Group and Buca di Beppo.
