US New Leaf Venture Partners closes $310m healthcare fund

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityNew Leaf Venture Partners, the life science venture firm spun out of the Sprout Group, has closed a $310m fund dedicated to investing in clinical stage biopharma products, early stage medical devices and molecular diagnostics.

Managing directors Philippe Chambon and Kathy LaPorte said, 'We are very excited by the closing of our first fund and are grateful for the strong support from an outstanding group of LPs. We plan to continue the successful healthcare technology investment strategy that we followed at Sprout Group.'

NLV Partners started up in July this year. The team is comprised of Philippe Chambon, Andrew Firlik, Ron Hunt and James Niedel in New York, and Jeani Delagardelle, Kathy LaPorte, Vijay Lathi, and Hao Zhou in Menlo Park.

In addition to the new fund, NLV will continue to manage the existing $800m healthcare technology portfolio of Sprout Group.
