UK mid-market private equity specialist Graphite Capital has recruited David Williams as a partner and Mike Innes as an investment director. Williams joins Graphite from Sand Aire Private Equity, the firm that he set up in 1997. He began his career with 3i, where he led larger management buy-outs and buy-ins including Prontaprint.
Innes joins the firm from the Bank of Scotland, where he led investments in a range of sectors including business services and leisure. He began his career as a solicitor with Clifford Chance and subsequently founded an internet-based legal recruitment consultancy before joining Bank of Scotland.
Rod Richards, Graphite managing partner, said, 'We are delighted to have attracted two individuals of such calibre and relevant experience. We have been talking to David for more than a year and are particularly pleased that he has decided to join us.
'We believe that conditions for making new investments will improve markedly in the next 12 months and both David and Mike's origination and execution skills will ensure that we are able to take full advantage of the improving conditions,' Richards continued.
Graphite is a specialist provider of private equity finance to UK mid-market companies. Typically the firm invests between £10-50m of equity in transactions valued at up to £125m. Graphite focuses on management buy-outs and buy-ins, expansion capital, replacement capital and turnaround opportunities.
