Venture capital firm Mayfield Fund closes Mayfield XII on $375m

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityMenlo Park, California-based venture capital firm Mayfield Fund has closed its latest fund, Mayfield XII, on $375m. The majority of the commitments came from long-standing limited partners.

James Beck, Mayfield managing director and CFO, said, 'Mayfield XII brings together a diverse and discerning group of investors.'

The firm expects to invest the fund over a three-year period in emerging growth companies in the digital media, consumer internet, semiconductor, software, open source, and mobile technology markets.

Mayfield XII brings the total capital under management at the firm to $2.3bn.

Mayfield Fund, founded in 1969, is a specialist in consumer internet technology, communications/mobility and enterprise software. Recent Mayfield Fund investments include Idealab-incubated search engine provider Snap, anti-spyware leader Webroot, and open source systems management provider GroundWork.
