Granite Ventures II closes on $350m

San Francisco, California-based Granite Ventures has closed its latest venture capital fund, Granite Ventures II, on $350m. The fund will focus on investment opportunities in early-stage communications and software companies.
Standish O'Grady, Granite Ventures managing director, said, 'The strong response we received from leading investors is a testament to the Granite Ventures team and network.'
Granite Ventures is an early stage technology venture capital firm. The firm began as the early stage venture capital group at Hambrecht & Quist in 1992 and became independent in July 1998. Following the close of Granite Ventures II the firm's total capital under management exceeds $1bn.
Granite Ventures has invested in more than 80 companies, including Digimarc, DigitalThink, InfoGear, Internap, NetBoost, Nexabit, Siebel Systems, Sierra Wireless, SnapTrack, Tumbleweed Communications and Vignette.
