Seed and early stage venture capital firm Kodiak Venture Partners has appointed Chip Meakem as general partner. In his new role Meakem will help identify new investment opportunities and support Kodiak portfolio companies. He will focus on digital media, internet advertising and other emerging technology opportunities. Meakem joins Kodiak from Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham, where he was managing director and served on the boards of directors of ContextWeb, Massive Incorporated, Pantero and NanoOpto.
Previously, Meakem served on the boards of LiveAdvice, Q-Link Technologies and Quantiva. Prior to entering the investment community, Meakem was senior director of strategic partnerships at N2K, responsible for strategic distribution partnerships for the online music retailer.
Before N2K, he was vice president at Interactive Imaginations, the predecessor to 24/7 Media.
'Chip's successful entrepreneurial and investment track record makes him a valuable addition to the Kodiak team,' said Kodiak founder and managing general partner Dave Furneaux. 'His combination of operating and venture experience make him a perfect fit for the firm, and his extensive network of contacts complements and expands the outstanding network Kodiak brings to bear to help our portfolio companies achieve market leadership positions.'
Kodiak focuses on communications/IT, and semiconductor and software companies.
