Bain Capital has agreed to acquire AREVA's connector subsidiary FCI in a transaction that values FCI at €1.07bn. This agreement has already been approved by AREVA's Supervisory Board. FCI designs and manufactures interconnect systems for the automotive, communication, data and consumer markets. FCI's revenues amounted to €1.3bn in 2004.
Michel Plantevin, a managing director at Bain Capital, said, 'FCI is a solid business that enjoys positive customer relationships in a number of different industry sectors, and will benefit from an invigorated organic and acquisition investment strategy to enable the company to pursue the attractive opportunities in the industry.'
Steve Pagliuca, also a managing director of Bain Capital, added, 'Bain Capital has a strong track record of acquiring non-core divisions of larger corporations in many industries, and building the business successfully in partnership with management.'
AREVA has sold the business as part of its plan to focus its resources on its core business, energy, AREVA said in a statement.
Bain Capital has €20bn in capital under management.
