BlackEagle Partners is the new name for Centurion Capital Partners, the firm formed by a group of private equity veterans in April 2005 to focus on the private equity restructuring and turnaround market. The founding partners have chosen BlackEagle because it is a unique name and it stands for the team's approach, founding partner Michael D Madden explained. BlackEagle's founding partners include Madden, Garrett P Kanehann and Jason G Runco, who spent the past six years investing together at private equity firm Questor Management Company.
The fourth founding partner is J W Henry 'Harry' Watson, a former economist on the faculty of the University of Chicago and founder and current chairman of Caledonia Group, an operations improvement consulting firm that works with the portfolio companies of private equity funds.
Madden said, 'We formed BlackEagle to build a leading private equity firm targeting operationally challenged companies that can benefit from our collective skills effecting turnarounds.
'We have all known each other and worked together for many years and look forward to building a premier private equity franchise, he continued.
Caledonia Group chairman Watson added, 'Our ability to execute complex transactions and successful history of investing in and fixing troubled companies places us in a unique position to capitalise on the large and growing number of turnaround opportunities we see in today's private equity marketplace.'
