European mid-market specialist Granville Baird Capital Partners has promoted Simon Havers to managing director and head of the UK team. Havers succeeds Mike Fell, who led GBCP's UK investment team for nearly ten years. At his request, Fell will now focus full time on deal making, GBCP said in a statement. Havers rejoined GBCP in 2002, having previously worked with the company from 1994 to 1998. In between, he spent four years at ABN AMRO Capital. Earlier on in his career, Havers was involved in the planning and roll-out of BBC World Service Television.
Mike Proudlock, chief executive of GBCP, said, 'Granville Baird Capital Partners is fortunate that as Mike Fell moves to full-time deal making after ten successful years of leading the UK business we have a ready-made replacement in Simon Havers, who in his seven years with GBCP has demonstrated the sort of dynamic leadership skills which we believe the UK team will need in the coming years. We look forward to Simon injecting his own particular brand of enthusiasm into both doing deals and leading the business. Our succession planning has ensured long-term continuity and stability.'
Havers added, 'With €830m under management, a European investment team which proactively sources, manages and realises investments through a number of offices in the UK and Germany and some excellent portfolio companies GBCP is in great shape to take advantage of the generally favourable investment climate and I look forward to helping to drive the business forward.'
Shortly after starting in his new role Havers promoted James Benfield to director.
GBCP has offices in London, Manchester and Hamburg.
