First closing of Wellington Partners III Life Science Fund on €50m

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityMunich-based venture capital firm Wellington Partners has held a first closing on its life science fund, Wellington Partners Ventures III Life Science Fund. Investors from Germany, the Benelux region, the UK, the US and the Middle East have committed €50m to the fund to date.

Among the investors are the European Investment Fund, Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse, Merifin Capital, the Messerschmitt Foundation, the National Technology Enterprises Company of Kuwait and large family offices and private investors from Germany.

Wellington expects to close the fund on €120m by summer 2007.

The Wellington Partners III Life Science Fund will invest in areas including innovative therapeutics, medical technology and diagnostics.

Wellington currently has €500m under management. The firm focuses on investments in the IT, media convergence and life science sectors.
