Baird Venture Partners, the US-based venture capital affiliate of investment firm Baird, has appointed Gregg Fergus as an executive-in-residence. Fergus will be based in BVP's Madison office. As an executive-in-residence, he will help the healthcare/life sciences team evaluate new investment opportunities and contribute operating experience to portfolio companies.
Prior to joining BVP, Fergus was with Affymetrix for nine years, where he most recently served as senior vice president of sales and global operations. He also held the positions of vice president of worldwide sales and vice president/general manager of North America. In addition, Fergus held commercial roles at Covance and Amersham, now part of GE Healthcare.
Pete Shagory, a BVP partner, said, 'With more than 20 years of life sciences and diagnostic tools experience, Gregg brings key skills to our team and reinforces our specific focus in the life sciences/tools arena. He will help advance our investment strategy, while playing an integral role in the management of current portfolio companies, such as Caden Biosciences.'
BVP has also announced that Devin Mathews has been promoted to partner from principal, and James Pavlik and Michael Liang have been promoted to vice president from the position of associate. All are based in Chicago.
BVP invests in early to growth stage companies in the business services and healthcare/life sciences sectors.
