3i to sell NCP car parking business to Macquarie for £790m14/03/2007. Source: AltAssets.
3i has split UK parking services company National Car Parks into two separate businesses - the traditional car parking business (NCP) and the outsourced services business (NCP Services) - and has agreed to sell the car parking business to Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund II in a £790m transaction. 3i intends to remain principal shareholder in NCP Services, which has a turnover approaching £140m and employs almost 4,000 people, according to a statement.
Chris Williams, the 3i partner who led the transaction, said, 'We had not planned to make any partial realisation at this stage, but with a business well ahead of its milestones, and strategically attractive to others, the board of NCP decided that Macquarie's offer provided the right solution for developing both of the businesses further.'
3i acquired NCP for £555m in July 2005 from Cinven, which bought the company from Cendant Corporation in 2002.
