Warburg Pincus hires Asia expert Leo Puri22/03/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
Warburg Pincus has appointed Leo Puri as a managing director. Initially he will work from the firm's New York office and later he will be based in Mumbai. Puri is expected to help expand the firm's business in India and he will also assist in building Warburg Pincus's financial services investment activities in selected markets across Asia. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, Puri was a director of McKinsey & Company in India, where he co-led the financial services practice in Asia.
Charles R Kaye, co-president of Warburg Pincus, said, 'We are delighted to welcome Leo to our team. India is a high priority market for our firm and his deep expertise in financial services and broad India experience will be of great value to our firm.'
Warburg Pincus currently has approximately $15bn of assets under management. The firm's offices are in Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Menlo Park, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai and Tokyo.
