3i has hired Marc Oiknine as director of 3i's Paris venture team. Oiknine brings seven years experience in venture capital, M&A expertise along with experience as an entrepreneur. Prior to joining 3i, he worked for three years at Atlas Venture as principal in the technology team focusing on investments in internet, mobile and software. Oiknine worked with management teams of companies such as DailyMotion, Soisic and RealEyes3D. Prior to Atlas Venture, he spent four years at Credit Lyonnais Private Equity, and was an investment banker in New York and Paris within the technology group at Clinvest.
3i focuses on buy-outs, growth capital and venture capital. 3i's global venture capital team invests in early to late-stage fast growth technology and healthcare businesses across Europe, US, Asia and Israel. 3i VC plans to invest $1.5bn funds over the next five years in companies in three main areas: healthcare (medtech and biotech), consumer IT (Internet, telecoms, digital media and electronics) and the clean technology sector.
Recently, 3i backed an MBO of Euro-Druckservice Aktiengesellschaft (EDS), a web-offset printer in the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, with a presence in Germany and Austria. The deal was the first for 3i's new CEE team, part of 3i Buyouts and led by Stuart McMinnies, a 3i partner based in London.
