Ted Schlein of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers elected new NVCA chairman19/04/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
The National Venture Capital Association in the US has named Ted Schlein, partner of Menlo Park-based Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, as its 2007-2008 chairman. He succeeds Robert Grady, managing director at The Carlyle Group. The NVCA has also announced the appointment of eight new board members, who will serve a four-year term. Schlein is now responsible for setting the public policy agenda and overall strategic direction of the NVCA. He joined the NVCA board of directors in 2004. He has been with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers since 1996.
The new NVCA board members are Ira Ehrenpreis, Technology Partners; Jim Hale, FTVentures; Pascal Levensohn, Levensohn Venture Partners; Paul Maeder, Highland Capital Partners; Kate Mitchell, Scale Venture Partners; Roger Novak, Novak Biddle Venture Partners; David Prend, Rockport Capital Partners; and Jonathan Root, US Venture Partners.
The NVCA has also appointed Claudia Fan Munce, managing director of IBM Venture Capital Group, as chairwoman of the NVCA Corporate Advisory Board for the coming year. David Douglas, general partner of Delphi Ventures has been named as chairman of the NVCA Medical Industry Group.
'We have an active year ahead of us across many fronts including promoting US competitiveness, managing the globalisation of venture capital investment, and supporting the industry's entree into alternative energy and clean technologies fronts,' said Schlein. 'We intend to advocate strongly for a policy and market environment that is conducive to the start-up economy, innovation and entrepreneurship.'
