US buy-out giant The Blackstone Group has appointed Susan Balloch as an executive director in the firm's private equity group. Balloch's new role encompasses overall management and administrative aspects of the group's activities. She was formerly with Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, in the investor relations group. Before that, she was managing director and chief administrative officer for global investment banking and private equity at Credit Suisse. Prior to the acquisition by Credit Suisse, Balloch was a managing director at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
Tony James, president of Blackstone, said, 'We are excited to have Susan undertake this role. Her integral involvement in such a wide variety of investment banking and business management functions over the past 20 years gives her a deep understanding of effective management for such a group.'
Blackstone's alternative asset management businesses include the management of corporate private equity funds, real estate opportunity funds, funds of hedge funds, mezzanine funds, senior debt funds, proprietary hedge funds and closed-end mutual funds. Blackstone also provides various financial advisory services.
