Trimaran Capital Partners hires Robaina as managing director and general counsel

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityNew York-headquartered Trimaran Capital Partners has appointed Alberto Robaina as managing director and general counsel. Robaina will be responsible for legal and administrative matters for the firm's private equity business and for Trimaran Advisors, the firm's fixed income management business.

Prior to joining Trimaran, Robaina spent ten years as general counsel and assistant secretary for the New York City Investment Fund. The fund, organised by financier Henry Kravis in 1996, is a $120m private fund with a civic mission of stimulating job creation and revitalising economically distressed communities in New York City through investments in small businesses.

Dean C Kehler, Trimaran managing partner, said, 'Alberto brings extensive expertise in the legal and private equity arenas, and we look forward to working with him as we continue to execute on our investment strategies and manage our existing investments to maximise returns for our investors.'

Trimaran has also announced the appointment of Adam H Miller as an analyst in the firm's private equity business. Miller was previously an origination and structuring analyst in the Leveraged Finance Group of BNP Paribas. He also spent time as an analyst in the equity derivatives department.

Trimaran's recent investments include Educational Services of America, a provider of day school services for children with special needs in the US; Urban Brands, a specialty apparel retailer that focuses on urban and ethnic customers; International Transmission Company, an independent electric transmission operator; El Pollo Loco, a quick service restaurant chain; and Standard Steel, a manufacturer of steel wheels and axles for use in freight railcars, locomotives and passenger cars.
