European private equity firm Bridgepoint has acquired aerospace component supplier Global Design Technologies from Stirling Square Capital Partners in a transaction totalling $343m. Operating from sites in France and the US, GDT manufactures permanent couplings which are used by aerospace manufacturers to connect hydraulic, air, fuel or other tubing in all types of aircraft. In addition, the couplings are used in the power generation market.
GDT was formed in January 2005 when Deutsch Metal Component of the US and Permaswage of France were merged following simultaneous MBOs by Stirling Square.
Bridgepoint focuses on the acquisition of companies valued up to €1bn.
Stirling Square targets European transactions between €50-500m.
