Highland Capital Partners hires Hugh Simons as COO

In his new role, Simons is expected to strengthen and drive the firm's planned expansion into Europe and Asia. He will also continue the strategic development of the firm's investment strategies and organisational structure.

In addition, Simons will have responsibility for the development of Highland's internal functions - administration, finance, HR, information systems, marketing and recruiting.

Simons was formerly a senior partner and CFO of The Boston Consulting Group. He spent 17 years at BCG, serving for the last seven as CFO, a member of the firm's Executive Committee, and leader of all internal global functions.

Highland focuses on investing in communications, consumer, digital media, healthcare and IT companies. The firm has approximately $2.6bn of committed capital.
