BC Partners to buy Intelsat20/06/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
An investor group led by BC Partners has agreed with Intelsat, a provider of fixed satellite services, to acquire 76 per cent of its parent company, Intelsat Holdings in a transaction valuing the company's equity at approximately $5.03bn. Taking into account approximately $11.4bn of debt, the enterprise valuation implied by the transaction is approximately $16.4bn. The company's debt is expected to increase by approximately $3.85bn at closing.
The current shareholders of Intelsat, including funds advised by Apax Partners, Apollo Management, Madison Dearborn Partners and Permira are expected to receive approximately $4.6bn in cash upon closing, and will continue to hold approximately 24 per cent of the primary ownership of Intelsat Holdings.
BC Partners closed its latest fund, BCEC VIII, on €5.9bn in May 2005.
