 Washington, DC-based technology venture capital firm Core Capital Partners has appointed strategy consulting and telecommunications expert Grant Allen as an associate.
Allen most recently held positions at private investment partnership Liberty Associated Partners and at Microsoft Corporation. At Microsoft, he served as a product manager in the Mobile & Embedded Devices division. Previously, Allen was a consultant at Dean & Company.
'Grant will be an integral member of Core's investment team, identifying investment opportunities that strengthen and broaden our current portfolio,' said Jonathan Silver, Core Capital founder and managing director. 'His experience is directly relevant to a number of areas in which we actively invest, particularly in the wide range of investments we make in the whole telecommunications sector.'
With approximately $350m under management, Core Capital invests in technology companies with a particular focus on telecommunications hardware and software, wireless applications, enterprise software, network security, e-commerce, logistics and tracking, energy and power management, in addition to web and communications services.
Portfolio companies include Sourcefire, NexTone Communications, InPhonic, buySAFE, Roundbox, Trust Digital, Trinity Convergence and IXI.
