Bain Capital to buy Bath and Kitchen business from American Standard for $1.8bn

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityAmerican Standard Companies has agreed to sell its Bath and Kitchen products business to US private equity firm Bain Capital Partners for $1.755bn in cash.

American Standard's Bath and Kitchen business manufactures and markets products under brand names such as American Standard, Ideal Standard, Armitage Shanks, Porcher, Jado, Ceramica Dolomite and Vidima.

Following the transaction, American Standard Companies will change its name to Trane, the flagship brand of its global air conditioning systems and services business.

Bain Capital manages several pools of capital, including private equity, high-yield assets, mezzanine capital and public equity, with approximately $50bn in assets under management.

Bain Capital is currently raising a $10bn main fund and a $5bn co-investment fund.
