American Capital hires Joel Houck

 Alternative assets management company American Capital Strategies has appointed Joel Houck as a senior vice president and managing director. In his new role, Houck will be responsible for developing a new closed-end fund, which would be managed by an affiliate of American Capital.
Houck joins American Capital from Wachovia Capital Markets where he served as a senior equity analyst and covered companies in the specialty finance sector since 2002.
Prior to Wachovia, Houck worked for A.G. Edwards & Sons as a senior equity analyst. He came to A.G. Edwards after six years in the commercial banking industry, during which he worked as a credit and commercial loan officer for NationsBank Corp. (formerly Boatmen's Bancshares) and PNC Bank Corp.
American Capital manages $16bn in assets and is an investor in management and employee buy-outs, private equity buy-outs, and early stage and mature private and public companies.
